Four days after accepting an invite to join The Black Pearl group blog I've just received an email from blog.co.uk saying that it's been deleted by the owner.
What a waste of time that all was then and how pointless!

Aw well we did get chance to meet up for a drink so it wasn't that pointless!

Captain Jack Sparrow (who revealed himself to be Hebburndelboy via several other alter egos) may have walked his own plank because the boredom that led him to set the group up with the declared intention of becoming the most popular group in blogland returned once he had revealed his identity. Or possibly he left in high dudgeon because the reaction to his announcement that Captain Jack was retiring wasn't well received in some quarters.
Who knows! Either way, as you say, a complete waste of time but for the fact that it caused a bit of amusement for a week. So well done Hebburndelboy for trying - shame the crew didn't get to share a grog as the sun went down over the yardarm.
Not that there's been any sun since we all set sail!

If what you say is right then I feel that the invite was sent under false pretences.
I have always chosen my blog friends with care and this is the first time that I feel let down. xx
It was definitely Hebb-boy, because I saw his post this morning when I popped in to answer comments.
I can empathise with how you feel, because though I guessed it was an existing blogger's alter ego, the fact it was done for the purely 'sad' reason of trying to have the biggest group, rather than for blogging entertainment, feels like a con.

He's now sent me an invitation to be a friend on his own 'new' blog! I wonder if he's read any of my comments here, or elsewhere, about what I think on what he did last week! xx

I was curious about the 'virus' that encircled the blog waves; I didn't get an invitation and I hasten to add, I did not feel left out. In fact, I had some interesting communications because of the 'Black Pearl' or maybe, in spite of it.

It was all a bit odd. I wonder if the guy was experimenting, researching or concerned about his runaway success. He wasn't a blogger I knew anything about.

Well maybe he didn't know...Jack says he blogged from the phone and had trouble at work...all sorts of reasons can cause somebody to disappear suddenly...he may be able to explain what happened if he comes back again...great big hugs...XX

I think that you'll find that not only did he know but said in a post to watch out on Friday! That would make it deliberate! In which case the words used and discarded come to mind.
Sorry Jen but this is the first time in over three years of blogging that I've found another bloggers action where I've been a friend or member of the group bordering on offensive. xx

Oh, you just reminded me, I responded to an invitation also, and found it had been deleted next day. It was a while ago...wonder if it was the same person?
