It's good to know

One of my blog friends here Greenmum hasn't blogged, or been active, for over two months.

Last week I sent her an email asking if all was well and she was okay. She replied saying that it was and she is !

She said that one of her other interests, family tree research, had rather taken over the summer. As well as nipping down the allotment of course.

She ended by saying...I'll get back to it soon no doubt, All the best.

It  always saddens me when blog friends stop suddenly and without warning, then don't respond to comments or emails.

Thankfully that has happened  only very rarely since I've been blogging but I still wonder what happened to them and hope that they're okay.

I know, that is difficult when they suddenly dissappear. It seems we form a bond with them over time.

I'm glad to hear from you too - blogging takes serious commitment - I reckon you either really get into it or you don't. I've had a lot of thoughts about this lately!

That's nice to know! It does but it should always be enjoyable. I think that relatively few get into it and stick with it. I think that we all think about it now and again.

It's always a concern if a regular blogger suddenly disappears. Usually it's because they are too busy to blog, but there's always that nagging worry that something is wrong.

Sometimes in my case I am just not in the mood to post and will just visit and read other blogs.

It certainly is! In this case it was the long period of inactivity which began to nag at me.
We all feel like that at times, and as you know I prefer reading, and commenting on, other blogs to doing entries.

As a 'newy' I can understand both sides! It is so good to get a message and know that someone is thinking of you or has valued something you said enough to comment! To realize that its REAL people we are connecting with - yet it does take time and effort to keep up and build relationships -and, like even family members who I love , I am often not in touch for ages!: I dont take the word 'friend' lightly but I dont want to contact just because blogging friends are' out there -' My major setback is absence of technical knowhow and finding my way around this whole new world of blogging.

I do enjoy your posts and messages and that the blogg friends I have are somehow a valued and new experience in my life.

So nice to know you care!

I've always had a relatively small number of blog friends,here and elsewhere, and I'm happy to say that some have become real friends.
Don't worry too much about the lack of technical knowhow, I've learnt almost everything by trial and error.

Hi Mr Flighty,
Good to see you back on line - I know you said you would be taking some time off - do anything nice? Or was it time spent getting the allottment whipped into shape? If so hope you had better weather then us. Our beans are waterlogged and our beetroots drowned.

I was thinking about my missing friends, Greenmum and others, over the weekend. Great to think she'll be back one day. Actually, you've inspired me, I'll now seize the initiative and mail the remaining absentees. Hopefully, they'll return too or at least confirm they're okay. I'd certainly like to know. What can I say? I'm a worrier! James.

James hello! It's when any friends have been missing a month or so that I usually leave a comment on their last entry then email them a few days later just asking if they're okay and all is well.
Thankfully in nearly three years there's only been a couple of people who never responded. I still wonder about them!
