Summer break

by MrFlighty @ Sunday, 01. Jul, 2007 - 08:37:17

It's unlikely that I'll be doing any entries here over the next few months.

However I'd like to assure all my friends that I will be continuing to read their blogs, and will comment as I have done in the past.

It's been the wettest June on record here in the UK so perhaps the next few months will see a change for the better.

I certainly hope so as I'm keen to get to work on Plot 124.

Have a good summer be it gardening, reading or doing whatever you enjoy!

I know you'll really enjoy your allotment, It is easy to get very addicted, and allotmenteers are very friendly.

Lets hope the weather picks up, then we can go from trailing around in the mud to daily watering and waiting for more rain because then the weeds are easier to dig up!

There's always something!

I have so far, and I'm certainly becoming addicted. Everyone I've met so far has been so friendly.
I've been really lucky with the weather during my three stints there so far, including this afternoon.
The weeds are pulling up easy and digging it over is proving relatively okay.
There is indeed!

I've left you a message on your allotment site. I am so pleased for you. I know you have missed the opportunity to garden.

I did a little bit of potting today - I'm afraid my back let me know it. I will very carefully do some dead heading from now on and later in the year, a bit of sorting, weeding and then stop.

I've just seen and replied to that comment. Many thanks for stopping by over there.
I consider it to be an early 60th birthday present to myself!
I'm taking it at a very leisurely pace indeed, with a blister on my thumb being the only problem so far.
Take care and have a good weekend.

Hm - may I suggest good strong gardening gloves :)

You may, although I bought some and have been wearing them all the time that I've been working there!

Consider the fit and if necessary, go for a closer fitting pair. Too spacious means a lot of slide/rub = blister.

I'll bear that in mind. Thanks!

Wishing you lots of success with the allotment project. I know from your comments on my blog that you appreciate flowers. Growing your own vegetables should also be very healthy and rewarding.

Thanks very much. I think that allotmenteering will be healthy and rewarding for me.
It's also got me using my digital camera at long last!

Ah yes, I noticed the photos on your allotment blog. A good use of the camera. You will be able to show how the allotment and the plants progress.
