Seven

by MrFlighty @ Tuesday, 29. May, 2007 - 11:38:24

random facts about myself...

1...I don't wear any rings, or other jewellery, and often don't wear a watch.

2...I value silence and solitude in this constantly noisy world.

3...I love gardens, and gardening, although I don't have one at present.

4...I don't like flying although I'm a lifelong aviation enthusiast.

5...I eat an apple every day - all of it including the skin, core and pips.

6...I'm a heathen - that is someone who does not believe in any established religions.

7...I love blogging but do prefer reading other peoples entries, and commenting.

As I don't really like being tagged I'm not going to tag anyone else but feel free to do this yourselves if you've not already done so.

Last night...

by MrFlighty @ Sunday, 13. May, 2007 - 08:54:02

I watched Rick Stein in du Maurier Country on BBC2. It was the first of two programmes celebrating the centenary of Daphne du Maurier's birth.

She is best known for her novel Rebecca, written in 1938, which was filmed two years later by Alfred Hitchcock. That had been shown earlier in the day on BBC2 but I wasn't home in time to watch it.

du Mauier loved Cornwall which she vividly bought to life in her novels such as Frenchman's Creek and Jamaica Inn.

I've read most of her books but not for many years, but I think that perhaps I shall pick one to read inbetween my more usual choices.

Tomorrow afternoon

by MrFlighty @ Sunday, 06. May, 2007 - 14:09:53

will probably see me settling down on the sofa with a cup of tea and a biscuit or three to watch that wonderful madcap film  Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines.

It's on Five TV starting at 3.00pm and seems as good a way as any of whiling away what looks like being a rather dull Bank Holiday afternoon.

As a lifelong sofa flyer it's on my list of aviation films along with The Battle of Britain, The Great Waldo Pepper, Strategic Air Command and plenty of others that I invariably watch when they're shown on TV.
