Next Thursday, 1 March

by MrFlighty @ Thursday, 22. Feb, 2007 - 12:25:04

is World Book Day, which is celebrating its 10th birthday.

Have a look at this Life's Lessons entry here or my own BookBuffs entry elsewhere.

See also The ten books you can't live without :: Tell us yours.

As you'll see I'm going to do an entry on BookBuffs mentioning, and linking to, any blogger who has commented with the book(s) of their choice.

There have been some interesting choices and one, Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, has prompted me to start reading it again.

Happy reading...MrFlighty read

I've been blogging...

by MrFlighty @ Thursday, 08. Feb, 2007 - 17:20:07

for two years now. Sitting here on a dull, wet afternoon in February drinking a cup of tea knowing that I should be doing other things I'm drawn to my PC to write a blog entry.

Looking at blogs, here and elsewhere, as I do it does seem apparent that the general feeling is somewhat downbeat due, I suppose, to the time of year and the weather. It's a long time between New Year and Easter, and for most of us a real drag.

If like me you're a sofa flyer and book browser then sitting by the fire reading a good book helps while away the time. I'm currently reading The Cold War by John Lewis Gaddis which I thought might be heavy going but is proving to be a fascinating account.read That's not bedtime reading so I've started reading Biggles books again. I've just finished Biggles Learns to Fly and have started Biggles the Camels are Coming. All I can say is that they are first class stories which I'm finding most enjoyable despite being written over seventy years ago.

I watch very little TV nowadays but I have really enjoyed the new series of Time Team over recent weeks. Last week they found very little in the way of finds but it didn't matter as much as it could have done. It's one of few programmes that I look forward to seeing at the moment.

I mentioned my unused digital camera recently and really must start carrying and using it. The other day I saw one of these diddy Smart cars with a CCTV logo on each door, the words CCTV on the front and back, and, yes, a CCTV on a pole sticking up from the roof. I wondered who it belonged to and what they use it for. Has anyone else seen such a vehicle? Of course if I'd had my camera with me I'd have taken a picture of it and shown it here!

I know that it's a bit early but have a good weekend everybody.
