Animal tail

by MrFlighty @ Wednesday, 25. Oct, 2006 - 11:19:45

Following the Natural World programme The Last Lions of India on BBC2 TV last Wednesday, 18 October was a ten minute film Stoats of Kedleston Hall (Derbyshire).
It followed a family of stoats, one of the most elusive of British mammals, from winter to spring.
It was a delightful film during which an ermine* was shown, which I don't think I've ever seen before.

Browsing Airliners.net as I regularly do I came across this animal tail which is a wonderful image of an ermine*.

[*an ermine is a stoat during the winter months when its normal brown fur coat has turned white]

National Poetry Day

by MrFlighty @ Thursday, 05. Oct, 2006 - 10:55:59

is today with the theme Identity.

The National Library for the Blind is the charity I support and this poem seems befitting of both the theme  and  this good cause.

I Asked the Little Boy Who Cannot See [anon.]

I asked the little boy who cannot see,
'And what is colour like?'
'Why green,' said he,
'Is like the rustle when the wind blows through
The forest; running water, that is blue;
And red is like a trumpet sound; and pink
Is like the smell of roses; and I think
That purple must be like a thunderstorm;
And yellow is like something soft and warm;
And white is a pleasant stillness when you lie
And dream.'

I have done poems on Flighty and BookBuffs, both of which have links to blog friends such as Feathers and Henk who have also done poems.

Have a good National Poetry Day!
